This battery is the worst. It is made in Hong Kong, take it from my experience and those of other reviews that frequently there are defective cells. I followed the instructions and did the charge/discharge crap which reminded me of old laptop batteries. Eventually this did increase the battery life to what I was hoping for. Well my hope did not last long.
Maybe a week, if that, is what the battery was good for. It did not take long for my laptop to just not turn on with the battery in unless I had it pluged in. Now sometimes the battery says 50%, sometimes it is in the 30's... it never shows anything above 50 (rarely even gets to 50). Whenever I turn the laptop off then back on I see a different percent of battery.
The only reason I might use the battery now is to elevate my laptop while it is plugged in. If I want to move my laptop I replace the battery before I unplug it. I'm looking for a manufacturer other than Dekcell that has a similar 12-cell battery. If it is going to take 8-15 days to ship then I'm not buying it b/c it may be the same manufacturer.

I bought this battery in July, and it started out fine, running my HP HDX18 beautifully, but then I started to notice things. My laptop's computer check system began to tell me that the battery was defective and needed replaced, but I assumed it just didn't detect it right because it is a generic battery. Then it began to fail. It would quickly loose power and cause my computer to simply turn off for no reason when the battery was running on about 55% charge, like someone took it out the battery when that was definately not the case. It has issues, thats for sure, and as to save harm to my 2,000 dollar laptop, I am sticking to the HP battery that has ran fine. I would not recommend this battery.

I originally ordered one of these batteries due to the short runtime afforded by the original factory battery that was supplied with this computer. With its big 17" display, it really sucks down the low mAh original battery in about 2 1/2 hours or so.
I recieved the battery from Brilliant Store very promptly and charged it overnight as instructed and then "ran it down". It did give me almost 4 hours runtime. This was while surfing the web and listening to music on iTunes in the meanwhile. The appearance of the battery is good and it is nicely finished, it blends well with the appearance and texturing of the computer's plastic under belly.
The only disturbing aspect I have encountered here, is the fact that when I ran the computer's built-in battery check utility, it told me that this battery was bad and that it had one or more defective cells!
As a result of this, I called Brilliant Store and they quickly shipped me a replacement, which got here in record time. The trouble was, this replacement battery tested out exactly the same way!
Upon calling them again, rather irrate this time I must admit, I actually got to talk to the closest person I supposed they had to a tech guy, who told me that this was probably just a quirk in the way the HP battery check reads the battery and that there was really no problem. I can understand this, because it probably simply looks for the same specs of HP's own battery, and if it sees any thing different, it throws up a red flag.
Anyway, in the interm, I returned the first battery in the Brilliant Store's prepaid packaging, and have kept this one for further evaluation. It does have a 30 day warranty I believe. It, like the first one gives me about 4 hours of run and really doesn't add too much weight to the laptop. It also nicely elevates the back of the computer for easier typing and better cooling. Hopefully, the internal 18650 cells used in these replacement batteries are of decent quality. One thing that I am noticing that I don't like, is the fact that if the computer sits around unused whatsoever for only a couple of days, the battery level will indicate that it has dropped around 20%, that indicates to me that the internal cells are of a pretty shoddy quality I'm afraid. This, I understand, is the major issue in these 3rd party Chinese batteries. The supplied HP battery holds its charge well and will only drop by a couple of percent in over a week. Most of these 3rd party batteries are made with the absolute cheapest Chinese-made cells the manufacture can find, not the somewhat more expensive but far higher quality Japanese-made cells. Only time will tell on this aspect since the cells are sealed inside and are impossible to examine short of destroying the battery. I have emailed "DekCell" to inquire about this battery's contents and ask them some questions about it but ,as I expected, they didn't even give me the courtesy of a reply.

I really like this battery. I no longer need to prop my computer up to comfortably type. It allows plenty of airflow. I received it five days earlier than expected. Increases performance and battery operation time considerably. They contacted me in short order to confirm order. It's a great price considering the replacement price from HP or other places for the same battery that came with my computer. I have the dv7-1464. Will certainly do business again!

If you look for longer time battery,Don't Need to Look Beyond This one. This extended battery last at least twice longer than my original one even with video and graphic concentrated applications. Also, the battery stickout from bottom elevates the laptop and let the air flow and cool the laptop. I like the price only half of the original, but twice the power with the cooling design.
